Coaching Support
A combination of highly experienced staff and less experienced staff is often the most cost effective way to get a job done. I can help you get the most out of your current staff, by helping them to develop their skills.
Case in Point: I recently spent a year helping a company develop a new proposal group, using staff that had little or no proposal experience.
We spent a few hours each week helping them understand best practices and develop solid processes.
At first, I helped them plan and organize every bid, and helped them overcome the obstacles that they faced along the way.
After a few months, I shifted the focus to reviewing their proposals and enouraging continuous improvement.
After a year, the personnel from this small group were promoted and used to form the backbone of the much larger headquarters proposal group --- only now they were seasoned professionals.
I have also coached small businesses that couldn't afford a full-time senior expert, by providing expertise and using mid-level staff to perform the execution. This enables them to hire more mid-level staff and respond to a larger number of bids than they could with fewer senior-level staff.
A few hours a week are often enough to help develop plans, discuss issues, and to review and enhance drafts. It is a very cost-effective way to enhance your bids. It's also a low risk approach since I don't require long duration commitments. I will work with you to set a low number of hours per month and then try it for a couple of months. We can make adjustments after that. To avoid travel costs, we'll use teleconferences and Internet-based whiteboarding applications to facilitate collaboration. The first payment is in advance or via credit card, and we can work out payment terms after that.

Speaking/Training. Training is offered by appointment, and is presented at your site. I have presented to small groups, as well as rooms with hundreds of people. We charge per day and not per person. It's a lot harder to personalize training and perform excercises for a group of 50 people than it is for a group of 10 — but you should be the one to make that trade-off decision. We want you to get the most out of our presentation.
Travel and lodging are not included.
You will need to provide the location and audio/visual equipment including a projector that we can plug our laptop into and a microphone if the room is large.
Most topics can be addressed in one day. However, we like to spend at least 30% of the time doing exercises to provide hands-on skill enhancement for attendees. More than one day may be required to thoroughly address a topic and allow time for exercises. In addition, multiple topics can be combined for more intensive training. We like to tailor exercises and use examples that are directly relevant to your company, and will participate in a discussion before the training day so that we can better understand your needs and make any adjustments necessary.
